The groundswell and Tesla—— The media monitoring project 2
In the last blog Tesla’s social media monitoring project 1 we introduced the Tesla. Now we will associate the groundswells and Tesla.
Tesla has many fans on social media, But they did not carry out marketing activities, they just used them to showcase their products and answer consumers’ questions about them. The frequency of their posts was not very high. Elon Musk announced a reversal of his long-standing strategy that Tesla doesn’t spend on advertising but instead spends money to improve the products – counting on owners to spread the word. But now the CEO said that Tesla would “try a little advertising” and see how it goes. How social media engagement could be higher by embracing groundswell in Tesla's new marketing campaigns.
We can see that On October 18, the search volume for Tesla increased significantly. this is because Tesla published a post on Twitter about the Q3 2023 Earnings Call.
In this Q3 2023 Earnings Call, Musk responded that he hopes to focus advertising on people who can already afford a car but may not have enough information about Tesla to decide to buy one.
So consider incorporating social media trends into your Tesla marketing campaigns and create engaging content such as videos, blog posts, press releases, or short films to showcase the capabilities of Tesla vehicles to potential customers who can afford the car. , features, and technologies. Host test drive events to let potential customers experience Tesla vehicles first-hand to attract more car buyers. Offer limited-time specials, loan or lease offers to incentivize customers who can potentially afford a car.
On Twitter, Tesla still listens to the opinions of consumers and specially published posts to explain how to use voice commands to control most of Tesla’s functions.

Hello Wantong,
ReplyDeleteTesla’s shift towards advertising makes a significant change in their strategy. By adopting groundswell and social media trends they can engage with more potential customers, like how they are talking to people who might want to buy their cars. There is a good market for electric cars but Tesla also need to be careful about the potential PR issue that could harm their brand image.
Hi Wantong,
ReplyDeleteOne of the first things that came to mind after reading about Tesla's switch to advertising is that they must be struggling to get customers to some degree. Or perhaps it could be about advertising to not only a new market segment but one that has everything Tesla is looking for. I also think that Tesla needs to first change their image or their brand image in the minds of people. By now everyone who knows about Tesla knows at least one controversy they have been involved in.
Hi Wantong!
ReplyDeleteNice post and I think Tesla was a good choice for this project. It is kind of silly to hear a brand say "let's try advertising" as this is one of the first things that most brands try to accomplish. But it is true with Tesla that consumers have done that work for them. I don't think I have ever gone on the Tesla website to read about the features, yet somehow I am still very familiar with the features of the car. I think this is because when Tesla's were first released consumers wanted to show off and boast about their car on social media. But, now that Tesla is very established, that flashy showing off attitude of consumers has died down, hence why they now need to try advertising.
